Pictures and Updates

Sorry it has been a little while since the last post-

Here are some pictures and updates to help catch everyone up:

Miles loves his husky dog from Gma and Gpa Breshears!

Some of you may remember my friend from Florida, Kelly and her daughter Annie (who won her battle with cancer!!) They were in town and Miles and I were able to go to Annie's 4th birthday party. What a joy it was to see them and spend a little time with them.

We went to Lagoon a little while ago. I was excited to have Miles ride the little rides. At first he was pretty freaked out, but after a few tries he started having so much fun. Unfortunately, Lamar was out of town and couldn't be there. We'll have to go again sometime soon.

An update on us:

The biggest thing is that we finally moved into our condo!! We are so happy to be in our own place. There are still some odds and ends that need to be completed, and we still have quite a bit of organizing to do...but we are happy to be there anyway. I think we appreciate the condo even more because we saw the whole evolution. I'll work on getting some current pictures of the condo so I can post a "before and after".

Lamar has been working hard as usual. He has been out of town quite a bit lately. He left this morning for a training school in Minnesota. He will come home Wednesday night. I am also so proud of him because he has been studying to get his mortgage license, and he takes his exam this Saturday. He really is becoming a jack of all trades.

Miles is as happy, active and curious as ever. He really loves being in the pool. He used to have a nice cautious attitude around the pool, but that has been replaced with a certain amount of confidence. We think he will be a really good swimmer like his daddy was.

Miles is getting better at sleeping in his new toddler bed. I feel that we are finally settling into a new sleeping routine after the major upheaval that occured a couple weeks ago. We are learning little by little!

A quick update

I've been wanting to post an update for a while now, and I have a few minutes so I thought I'd hop online.
We've had a pretty exciting  couple of weeks. Lamar returned home a few days ago from his time in Kentucky. Miles had learned a couple of big new tricks while his daddy was away. First, I had noticed that Miles had started to become more aware of going "peepee", so I decided to go buy a little potty since he was showing an interest. He started to go peepee every now and then and loved it. For now I think it's a little bit of a game for him, but that's ok...I figure it is the beginning of the whole potty training process.
The big whopper of a change that Miles dropped on me recently was gaining the ability to climb out of his crib. When this happened I knew that I had to get him a new bed because he was actually climbing part of the way out and then falling the rest of the way. I didn't want him to get hurt during his great escapes. So when the crib "jail breaks" first started happening, I was a little excited at the idea of a "big boy" bed and I got a cute little toddler bed for him.  I quickly learned that I initially had no idea what I was in for. Miles being the active little boy that he is, has no intention of staying in bed once he is put there. He just hops right out, walks over to the door, and opens it right up. I tried putting him to sleep in his pack and play and he climbs right out of that, too. Then I tried blocking the door with  a baby gate, and surprise, surprise....he can climb right over that, too. So for the time being I'm just kindof winging it and holding him in my arms while he falls asleep. When we finally get to the condo we will find a more permanent solution and help Miles learn to sleep in his new bed.
Speaking of the condo, we hope to move in soon. Actually we were hoping to have it move in ready by the time Lamar returned home, but our contractor just wasn't cooperating. It's really close to being finished though, and we'll be excited to move into our new place!

Some of Miles' favorite things to do

Miles is such an outside boy. Most all of his favorite things to do are outside. He loves going for walks, playing in the water, helping with the yard work, and going to the playground. I've been into gardening lately and Miles is such a good helper! He follows me around with  his little watering can and waters the flowers.
Lamar has been in Kentucky for a week with the Marines. He is working really hard and getting very little sleep, but he is having a good time of course. He comes home in about a week and Miles and I are so excited to see him!

A day at the zoo

I took Miles to the zoo a couple of days ago. He had so much fun! He loved being outside and seeing some animals. He loved the elephants. I think we will have to get a zoo membership this summer so Miles and I can go alot. Miles' favorite things lately are balls, birds, bubbles, dogs, and "toot toots" (things that go)

Easter

Miles had a lot of fun this Easter. We were able to go to two Easter egg hunts and Miles had a great time. He loved running around looking for the eggs. At times he would get distracted by a ball or something else he wanted to play with, but for the most part he stayed focused on finding eggs. We hope you all had a lovely Easter Sunday.

Miles and his best friend

Miles loves playing with Oli. One of the first things he says when he wakes up is "daa, daa" meaning "dog". They are quite the pair. In fact, I have had to ban Oli from the kitchen during meal times because Miles always tries to sneak Oliver food instead of eating it himself. It's like they're running a little covert operation.
When Miles and I take Oli on walks, Miles always has to hold the leash. It's pretty cute.
