The Little Drummer Boy

Christmas

Miles had a lot of fun this Christmas season. He started to understand Santa Claus and he would walk around as say "Merry Christmas!"
This is Miles on Christmas morning walking over to see his presents. He was so cute, after he unwrapped one gift, he just wanted to play with it instead of opening the rest of his gifts. We had to kind of push him along. He loved everything he opened.

The following pictures were taken on Christmas Eve. We thought we'd let Miles open a couple gifts.

A big thank you to those who sent presents for Miles. He loved everything and is having so much fun with his new stuff. Lamar and I are very grateful for our friends and family this holiday season.

Choo Choo Train

Miles is really...I mean REALLY into trains right now. One of his favorite shows is "Choo Choo Soul" on the Disney channel. He always asks to watch it. He also loves "The Polar Express", which started at his Grandparent's Breshears house over Thanksgiving. Luckily it was on TV one day and I recorded it...because he asks to watch it all the time.
My grandparents gave Miles a train set to play with. He was in 7th heaven...for a while. The train didn't last too long (not being made for rough and tumble 2 year olds) but he had a lot of fun while it worked. We told him that we needed to get a new train, so he keeps saying "new train mommy?"
I think Miles just might be in luck because I heard that Santa may have something up his sleeve. A replacement train perhaps?

Thankful

Lamar and I are thankful for so many things this holiday season.
Freedom - Love - Opportunity - Food & Shelter - Friends - Family - much more!
We celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday with family in the Seattle area...

I just love this picture of Jackson! It makes me smile every time I see it!

A little update

Sorry it has been a while since the last post, and that this post is one without pictures. I think the reason why I haven't posted in a while is that I haven't had any pictures to post...but I will try and take some soon.
Let's see...what's new around here?
We are still trying to get Miles used to the idea of using the potty. He does use it every once in a while, like this morning he went pee pee in the big potty three times! But for the most part, he still wears a diaper, which is ok for now.
Miles really loves to read lately. I'm glad that I have always loved children's books and had quite a collection going before Miles came along. Lamar particularly likes to read Dr. Seuss books to Miles.
Lamar is doing well...we've had a fun month celebrating Veteran's Day and the Marine Corps birthday. We threw Lamar a surprise party on Veteran's Day to honor him, and Lamar and I went to the birthday ball a little while ago and had a great time. Next year will be quite the event because Lamar will have a key role as he is now the Company Commander.
School is going well for me, I just really love it and am so happy I have this opportunity. Things are getting a little crazier as the semester is getting ready to wrap up in a couple weeks.
We are looking forward to a trip up to the Seattle area to see some of our family for the Thanksgiving holiday.
I'll work on getting some pictures... promise!

Halloween

Well...I have to say that I was pretty disappointed not to get any good picture of Miles in his costume. I challenged myself this year and decided to make his pirate costume myself. I think it turned out pretty well...for a first timer! I never could get Miles to hold still long enough to get a picture of his whole costume. He was always taking something off...and every time he saw me coming with the camera he would turn and run away! But here are some pics to give a general idea!
Miles had a GREAT time trick-or-treating. He was practically sprinting from house to house. I think a lot of it was that he was excited to be outside with a bunch of people, in the dark, running from house to house. I'm sure the candy was part of it, too!! Although his halloween candy has since mysteriously "disappeared".

A Fall Day at the Zoo

A couple days ago, I took Miles to the zoo. We had been wanting to go for quite some time, and it was really fun. It was a chilly day, which meant we had to bundle up. The nice thing was the zoo was pretty empty, so we didn't have to fight any crowds. Miles LOVED the little train. He was so excited. The picture just above is him patiently waiting for the train to go. Miles also loved the elephants, and the monkeys.
