We've had a pretty exciting couple of weeks. Lamar returned home a few days ago from his time in Kentucky. Miles had learned a couple of big new tricks while his daddy was away. First, I had noticed that Miles had started to become more aware of going "peepee", so I decided to go buy a little potty since he was showing an interest. He started to go peepee every now and then and loved it. For now I think it's a little bit of a game for him, but that's ok...I figure it is the beginning of the whole potty training process.
The big whopper of a change that Miles dropped on me recently was gaining the ability to climb out of his crib. When this happened I knew that I had to get him a new bed because he was actually climbing part of the way out and then falling the rest of the way. I didn't want him to get hurt during his great escapes. So when the crib "jail breaks" first started happening, I was a little excited at the idea of a "big boy" bed and I got a cute little toddler bed for him. I quickly learned that I initially had no idea what I was in for. Miles being the active little boy that he is, has no intention of staying in bed once he is put there. He just hops right out, walks over to the door, and opens it right up. I tried putting him to sleep in his pack and play and he climbs right out of that, too. Then I tried blocking the door with a baby gate, and surprise, surprise....he can climb right over that, too. So for the time being I'm just kindof winging it and holding him in my arms while he falls asleep. When we finally get to the condo we will find a more permanent solution and help Miles learn to sleep in his new bed.
Speaking of the condo, we hope to move in soon. Actually we were hoping to have it move in ready by the time Lamar returned home, but our contractor just wasn't cooperating. It's really close to being finished though, and we'll be excited to move into our new place!
